RADSTADT & THE ROSSBRAND - a HIKING PARADISE
In addition to the many clearly posted hiking trails in and around Radstadt
(for comprehensive information, please visit:
www.wanderparadies-radstadt.at), the Rossbrand also offers numerous
hiking opportunities - all of which are easy for most people to handle.
Nevertheless, we do recommend good footwear and taking along clothing to
protect you against the rain and wind - at an elevation of more than 1,700
meters, the weather can often change very quickly!
Setting out from the valley, you can reach the Rossbrand: (on foot :-))
from Radstadt in approx. 3 hours
from Filzmoos in approx. 3 - 3.5 hours
from Altenmarkt in approx. 3.5 - 4 hours
from the Papageno summit station in approx. 1 hour.
We recommend the following reading when preparing for your hiking
tour on and around the Rossbrand:

Trail Description from Radstadt post office to the Rossbrand (Trail
No. 462) -
follows the same route as the Arnoweg Trail.
Trail Time: approx. 3 hours.
The
Rossbrand, Radstadt's most famous peak, one of Austria's most beautiful
scenic mountains. From the summit - site of the Radstädter Hütte - hikers have magnificent panoramic views of the Niedere Tauern, Hohe Tauern
and Kalkberge ranges: the Hochkönig and Tennengebirge to the west, the Bischofsmütze
and
Dachstein Massif to the north. Enjoy a hike up via the Bürgerberg-Alm (1 hour)
following the Arnoweg Trail, the latter taking hikers in 8 stages on a
journey through the
SalzburgerLand.
From the post office to Tauerncamping campground along the Bürgerbergstrasse, until the Bürgerbergweg
takes a sharp right away from this road. At the crossing, hikers have
the option of staying on the Bürgerbergweg (forest path), or taking a
narrow, marked and very beautiful path through the forest to the north.
Gentle climb. From the Bürgerberg-Alm (relaxing spot to take a break),
a winding trail leads to the summit. Descents also possible to Filzmoos, Mandling, Altenmarkt
and Eben (bus service). |
